Thursday the 15th of September – Bethesda, North Wales.
We are excited to be hosting an event highlighting some of the different ways community energy organisations are revolutionising the way we consume and use energy. The community energy sector is proving to be very resilient and innovative in the face of considerable challenges. None more so than in this small corner of North Wales where Cyd Ynni (a consortia of local community energy organisations) are teaming up with Energy Local and a range of other partners to deliver a trial to offer local people the chance to buy their energy directly from a locally owned hydro scheme. This could revolutionise the way we consume energy and where we buy it from as well as making locally owned renewable schemes more viable in the long term.
This event will enable you to hear from and meet the key players involved in this innovative trial and visit the place where it is all happening. Speakers include Mary Gillie from Energy Local, Keith Jones from the National Trust and Alun Hughes from Ynni Padarn Peris.
In addition to this we will hear from people and organisations that are looking at different ways that communities could generate energy in the form of heat, marine energy and storage. This will all be taking place during Community Energy Fortnight and we are pleased to be able to share some of the incredible, innovative projects that Communities in Wales and beyond are involved in and provide the opportunity for those interested in and active in the community energy sector to share ideas and network.
We look forward to seeing you there.
